1. We tend to be right most of the times.

Yeah, it may be gender role thing. After all, if you grew up in Peru, then you might have grew up in an environment where both gender have roles that apart them from each other. Where Peruvian women tend to be confident when it comes to any sort of situation and they fight until they are proven right. 

2. We are not always arguing.

If its your first dating a Peruvian, then you may wonder why sometimes we tend to be loud or raise our voice. But, in all honestly we tend to raise our voice to make a point or to just say something funny. It does not mean we are arguing. We were just raised like this, so you better get used to constant yelling.

 3.  Your love for food will change

If you are from the U.S, yeah you may have tried various food. But nothing compares to the cuisine of Peru. The first time you take a bite from eating chaufa, lomo saltado or pollo a la brasa. You better have your taste buds prepared because it may be the best you have ever tried. If you are fan of cooking, don’t be afraid of asking a member of the family to teach you how to. So be ready to learn a lot of amazing recipes.

4. We love decorating.

If you are Peruvian and you are the type that loves decorating, or you are going home for christmas then you will understand about your partner being amazed by the decoration we have that do not compared to the tradition American ones. If you move in with a Peruvian, you will definitely notice a Peruvian ornament somewhere around the house. From an “ekeko” that bring fortune and prosperity to a tiny Peruvian nativity scene, specially if its christmas seasons. If you are non-peruvian, then you must support your peruvian partner becuase it is a tradition after all and may make your relationship even better.

5.  Language

Another opportunity that you may encounter is to learn spanish or improve any spanish you may have learned in high school. Specially when visiting the whole family, they will judge based in your spanish skills. Even a “Hola” may be a way to tell them that you are open to learning. As much english as a Peruvian mom may know, they will test your skills. So be ready.
